Savory snacks

I’m not going to pretend like any of this is actually “healthy,” but these snacks at least have more nutrients and protein than regular potato chips, so I enjoy them from time to time.

Cauliflower Stalks by From The Ground Up are made with a vegetable blend. They are crunchy and flavorful! I really enjoyed them straight, tough they could also be used with hummus or dip. I had also tried their purple carrot crackers, which unfortunately the kids did not like, but I wonder if they might like the Butternut Squash Stalks with cinnamon…

Vegan Rob’s Cauliflower Puffs have sorghum and probiotics. They’re a bit like Cheetos in appearance, but white, and the Engineer and I really like them! The Fox thinks they’re okay, but the Little Prince doesn’t like them.

Veggie Sticks by Lesser Evil. I think that brand name says it all! These are really good if you’re looking to replace the prototypical veggie straws.

Finally, I now occasionally buy Wilde chicken chips, which are high in protein and low in carbs. They are made with chicken and egg whites, in addition to tapioca starch, oil, and various flavors and spices. I started with the Himalayan Sea Salt flavor, which is probably the chicken-iest-tasting thing you’ll ever put in your mouth (including straight-up chicken). In a way, that was a good thing, because I would naturally reach a point where I’d had enough. But then, I bought the Chicken & Waffles flavor, and it blew my mind. It’s like it took my brain a minute to understand what I was tasting, but now I am completely addicted, and the flavor (which includes maple sugar) is so well balanced that I could just eat the whole bag in one sitting if I let myself go. Eat at your own risk!
